Restyling Of Feidiou Office Building

The main focus of the proposal is to reinterpret the Zoning Envelope Constraint, as imposed by the Greek Building Regulations and to incorporate it in the design, in an original way to make a statement on the formal vocabulary of the city.

The original structure is kept and the design process focuses on achieving high environmental performance in all office areas based on an understanding of seasonal and diurnal climatic variations. In detail, the spatial design was intervened by the solar geometry to maximize daylighting application. Thermal performance is improved by integrating a natural ventilation strategy and the appropriate material choice within the design of building form and space. Vertical louvers provide the building with visual complexity while at the same time apply bioclimatic principles of shading.

Sustainable office design is the concept of creating an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient workplace, and comes with numerous benefits including improved cost savings, improved employee well-being, and a reduced environmental footprint.

One of the main benefits of green office design is energy efficiency.

Advanced parametric processes enable the exploration of a wide range of design intentions and the generation of alternative project configurations. A novel parametric approach that integrates climatic and site data into a dynamic model of a large building project, to support architectural decisions in early design stages, is adopted. Bioclimatic considerations that involve solar radiation analysis and computational fluid dynamic (CFD)-based wind flow simulations have been integrated into the parametric model, in order to explore the interaction of the geometry of the proposed building facade with the solar exposure and the prevailing winds in the area throughout the year.
