The triangle building of the museum, a transformation of the existing landscape, the existing mountain, an artificial rock, appears like a mystical object floating above the rest of the construction and the extensive landscape, seemingly defying gravity by exposing dramatic suspension over the surrounding upscale plaza.
At the same time its main orientation is along the Qibla axis, providing a direct reference to the Islamic culture and religious tradition.
Taking into consideration the importance of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah as the second holiest place and being named as the Capital of Islamic Culture, the proposal is to highlight a striking Islamic Landmark to remain in the memory of the city’s visitors.
Light and Shadows, Cultural identity, Heritage, Faith and Tradition, Arad landscape and Nature, Local – Site Materiality and modern Technology, are key elements in the design of the museum sculptural volume. The building is a modern interpretation of Islamic architecture and creates a dynamic, intellectual atmosphere reflecting the leading role of museum in the world.
