Promotion of Social Integration Through Sports

Nestled in the heart of Heraklion Attika, this exceptional structure pays homage to innovative design and harmony with the surrounding environment.

The aim of this project is to provide the area of new public services, encouraging sport activities as a way to promote the social integration for the inhabitants in the area, especially the youth persons.

The OT 09 Sports Hall is more than just a building; it is an example of architectural excellence that respects the environment and utilizes cutting-edge materials. Its reflective and ventilated facade, with the creative use of U-Glass, a self-standing glazing system, and EQUITONE, a sustainable material for low-carbon building projects and the installation of a green roof, testify to technological ingenuity and the realization of a unique building that remarkably blends into the surrounding environment.

The exterior facade of the sports hall is a masterpiece crafted in U-Glass and fibre cement panels, materials that goes beyond aesthetics.

Its reflective properties not only give the building a constantly evolving appearance but also contribute to its harmonious integration with the environment. As the sun traverses the sky, the facade reflects the changing colors and patterns of the atmosphere, mimicking the vibrant beauty of the Corsican landscapes.

This interaction between light and reflection not only enhances the aesthetic aspect of the building but also creates a fascinating example of architectural mimicry, allowing the structure to effortlessly blend into a constantly changing environment. Furthermore, this ability to react to the elements gives the Pietrosella Sports Hall a kind of climatic chameleon.

The Pietrosella Sports Hall is more than just a building; it is an example of architectural excellence that respects the environment and utilizes cutting-edge materials. Its reflective facade, creative use of polycarbonate, and unprecedented glued laminated timber beams testify to technological ingenuity and the realization of a unique building that remarkably blends into the surrounding environment.

A strong perpendicular block, built into an already living structure, is absorbed by it. The facade is not a hard division of space, it reacts with its surroundings – the courtyard penetrates the hall through high glazing, the wooden facade becomes a terrace, pitches climb up the facade, the roof of the locker room becomes an auditorium for school games and provides a chance to see inside the hall.
